Three Good Luck Foods To Eat On New Year’s

Three Foods That Will Give You Good Luck for the New Year

This is for all of my Chop Happy friends for a great good luck New Year! This post is me to the core, as I am super superstitious and love anything that spreads gratitude and good luck. I make me and Tom do all kinds of funny things to ensure a happy sweet new year and a lot are food related.

Now one of the things on the list of things for good luck is my own crazy yummy superstition for good luck. The other two are from different sources and what they do to have good luck.

1. GRAPES

Eat 12 grapes – one for each month of good luck in 2017!

This is actually from Spain that dates back to 1895. It was believed if you eat the grapes, it leads to a year of prosperity. Also the part I like the best is they also believed it wards off evil.

Here’s what to do for good luck. Every year I get 12 grapes for me and Tom and we eat each one at a time saying thank you as we finish them!

2. Cornbread

Wishes for riches!

This is an awesome tradition from the South. Cornbread symbolizes gold and that means money in your pocket! It may not be a Scratch-Off Game, but I am so into anything that is good luck for money. I wish you (and everyone you know) for this one to work for you. May your pockets be overflowing with money!

Here is what to do for good luck. On January 1st eat cornbread, and with every bite visualize money flowing into your life!

3. First Dinner of 2017 – Meatballs! for Yummy Good Luck All Year!

This one is my good luck tradition.

Every year I make meatballs for us to eat on January 1st and send my friends off with them too. They are good luck, because this recipe in particular got me to Top 10 on a Rachael Ray contest and everyone who eats them loves them. Both makes me think eating something super delicious on day 1 will get us to a delicious year.

Here is what to do for good luck. You can make the meatballs the day before, but on January 1 eat them as your first dinner of the year and talk about all things you are grateful for and all you wish to come true!

  • Had the meatballs and I must say, coming from an picky eater who's parents are off the boat from Italy, this recipe is amazing! The best meatballs I've tasted. Thank you!
