This is the perfect recipe because everything is done in the slow cooker so it does not take up prime stove real estate. When the mashed potatoes are done you can keep them on the warm seeing to stay hot until dinner time. Right before serve mix in a pad or two of butter. My sister makes slow cooker mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and always turns on the slow cooker when she gets to my mom’s. The only problem is we all go in with a spoon before dinner starts lol. Just like bacon I always make more then I think we need.

Recipe Hacks:

  • Yukon Gold Potatoes save time because no need to peel. The skins are soft and thin so easy to eat.
  • Use chicken broth instead of water! Replacing the water with broth makes them even more soaked up with flavor.
  • Salt the potatoes after water boils. If salt before there is a boil the salt stays at the bottom of pot and the potatoes are not seasoned well!
  • Cut the potatoes small. The smaller you cut the more evenly cooked and faster they cook.
  • Make  this a vegetarian recipe. Use mushroom or vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
